Chemical Skin Peels
A skin peel involves applying a solution to the skin to remove the outer layers. This improves the texture and clarity of the skin, in addition to reducing fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Peels are also effective in the treatment of acne, rosacea and melasma. Skin peels are categorised on the depth of the procedure.
Superficial and medium depth peels are the most popular as laser resurfacing, IPL and dermabrasion have supplanted the deeper depth peels. The most important factor of the skin peel is the pH - this determines the depth of the peel and how much irritation is caused. The lower the pH, the deeper the peel. All peels cause desquamation of the skin, resulting in an accelerated cell turnover and faster cell cycle resulting in rejuvenated more youthful skin texture. They are applied to the face, neck, decollete and backs of hands.
Skin Tech Easy TCA Peel
At DermaVi Aesthetics, our range of medium depth peels can only be carried out by Health professionals, and should not be confused with the gentle glycolic acid peels performed by some beauty therapists. Skin Tech Easy TCA is preferred by Dr. Shrivastva as this allows precise penetration of the peel in the mid dermis and is rapidly deactivated after application of a post peel mask. This is one of the safest and most versatile skin peels.
The skin is cleansed and then the peel solution is applied. This causes a slight stinging sensation and then a post peel mask is applied neutralising this sensation. The peel is then washed off the following morning with soap and water, and a cream is applied twice daily. Clients can wear make up and resume their daily activities immediately.
Slight heat in the skin may be experienced and the tightening of the skin in the first 2-3 days after treatment, followed by mild peeling and flaking at days 3-4. Factor 30SP should then be worn for at least 2 weeks after treatment. By the end of a treatment course one can expect a reduction in finer lines and wrinkles, more even tone and clarity to the skin and reduction of hyperpigmentation.
